Germany: the Ukrainian ID card is recognised for another year, until 23 February 2027

WHAT CHANGED Recognition of the 2015-type Ukrainian ID card was extended by a year: from 23 February 2026 to 23 February 2027. WHO IS AFFECTED Anyone using the ID card instead of a travel passport to cross the border or to stay in Germany and other EU countries. WHAT TO DO Nothing urgent. But note the limits: the card replaces a passport for a stay of 90 days within 180, not for your status. If your travel passport is expiring, apply for a new one early.
