Do you need to do anything?

You do not apply for anything: the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen) reviews your case on its own initiative before your permit expires and extends it automatically if you still meet the conditions — a new residence card arrives by post in about 4 weeks, with no new biometrics and no in-person visit. Your only duties are to keep your address current in the Folkeregister, have your name on the letterbox, and respond if the Service asks for more information. Where: Udlændingestyrelsen (the Danish Immigration Service) — reviews the case on its own initiative, «af egen drift». There is no application, no filing portal is needed, and no in-person visit or repeat biometrics are required. Important: There are no application dates at all, because there is no application. Note: Denmark has its own deadline — 17 March 2027, not 4 March 2027 — because Denmark is not bound by the Council decision (Protocol No 22) and follows its own special act («særlov») with its own dates. As of 03.09.2026 the next extension (to March 2028) had NOT yet taken effect: on 22.08.2026 the government only announced its intention («Nu vil regeringen forlænge Ukrainesærloven med ét år, så den udløber i marts 2028»), and technically the extension is made by the minister through a separate order (bekendtgørelse); the official pages still give 17.03.2027 as the cut-off date.
