Leaving Ukraine: 2026 checklist

🛂 Border crossing documents
- Valid foreign passport (biometric for visa-free EU entry).
- Domestic passport/ID card (for Türkiye and Georgia).
- Proof of purpose of travel and financial means (may be requested at the border).
- Health insurance — arrange it before crossing the border.
- Military registration documents and proof of the right to leave — for those concerned; verify the rules with official sources.

👶 Crossing with a child
- Birth certificate (under 14) or the child’s passport (from 14).
- Departure under 16 with one parent — no notarized consent of the other parent required.
- With grandparents/adult siblings — with a written statement of one parent.
🐾 Crossing with a pet
- Microchip and international veterinary passport.
- Rabies vaccination + antibody titration test.
- Form No.1 / international certificate; parasite treatment.
🚗 Crossing by car
- National driving licence + vehicle registration (Latin + Cyrillic).
- Green Card — mandatory international insurance for UA-registered cars.
- UA identification mark and state license plates.
- For Romania and Moldova — a mandatory technical inspection.
- Power of attorney or certificate — if driving someone else’s car.
🧳 Customs
- Cash up to €10,000 — no declaration.
- Medicines — for personal use (some require a prescription).
- New equipment/electronics (from 2–3 items) and antiques — must be declared.
🇪🇺 EES / ETIAS
EES is live: on the first entry to the EU, biometric data is collected (fingerprints + photo). ETIAS — an online pre-authorization for ~€7, expected 2026; Ukrainians with temporary protection should check exemptions with official sources.
