Before population registration, Migrationsverket assesses LMA financial support. After registration, the municipality assesses social assistance needs. Försäkringskassan handles specific insurance benefits; some employment-based benefits may be available before population registration. NEW FIRST APPLICATIONS FROM 5 AUGUST 2026: a man aged 23–65 must show that he has fulfilled his military obligations in Ukraine or is exempt. Accepted examples include a passport with a lawful-exit stamp no more than 90 days old, an e-VOD from Reserv+, or another official document showing entitlement to leave Ukraine. This does not apply to people who already held temporary protection before 5 August. Do not send extra documents unless Migrationsverket asks for them. A permit decision received before 5 August 2026 remains valid until 4 March 2027; applications for extension will open in early 2027. Visa-free entry with a biometric passport (90 days). Protection is registered at Migrationsverket. Bring passport, children’s certificates, proof of residence before 24.02.2022.
