The programme accepts no new applications. Existing Special Visa holders can apply for further special visas and await Ukraine Resident Visa decisions (applications were accepted until 16.03.2026). New arrivals — standard visas only (visitor/work/student).
2026 update: the Special Ukraine Visa is closed to new applications; the Ukraine Resident Visa residence category closed on 16.03.2026. Existing SUV holders can continue extending their temporary visas. IMPORTANT: The 2022 Special Ukraine Visa has been CLOSED to new applications since 15 March 2024 — the programme does not accept newly arriving Ukrainian refugees. The Ukraine Resident Visa category, opened on 16.03.2024 for those who arrived on the special visa by 15.03.2024, CLOSED to new applications on 16.03.2026 — it is no longer possible to apply. If you are ALREADY in New Zealand on the special visa: you can apply for further special visas while awaiting your residence decision (if you applied by 16.03.2026). If you are only planning to move: only STANDARD visas are available — Visitor, work (including the Accredited Employer Work Visa — a job offer is required), or student. Ukraine is not on New Zealand’s visa-waiver list, so a visitor visa must be obtained online in advance.
